My customers came out for a three-quarter day trip and we made every second count. Very little downtime with all of the snook, snapper, jacks, grouper and many other species. Using live greenbacks and thread fin on 2/0 circle hooks, we managed to limit out on mangrove snapper and pull many snook out from under the bushes. These mangrove snappers are fast critters but when you learn to set the hook quick you are sure to fill the cooler. We fished mostly mangrove islands and grass flats throughout the day. We managed to pick up a few trout, but with the warm water temps they have been hanging a little deeper so only spent a short time fishing trout. Fishing is really great right now and only expected to get better going into the fall season with redfish starting to school in the high numbers and many are big, framed fish. Fall is one of the more fun times of the year to tussle with redfish and snook.
