Dolphin Attack

Captiva Island, FL

December 10th, 2022

I had one of my great regular customers out today with some of his special guests. It was a chilly morning with a slight North wind and a very low tide. We fished for a few of the dock dwellers while the water was low, but once the tide came in, we managed to sneak into the mangroves and try our hand at snook and redfish. Had a great bite in the afternoon landing many snook and reds achieving a slam for my customer, something he’s become accustomed to when he goes out with me. The highlight of the day did not come with all the fish we caught but by an incident that occurred that doesn’t happen often. While fighting a Jack Crevalle we were taken by surprise when a dolphin rushed in to eat our fish on the line. The dolphin won and started peeling line with no way to stop. We managed to get the fish to the boat but there wasn’t much left at that point, it happens but not very often at all and my customers thought it was quite the experience.

6 Crevalle Jack

1 Spanish Mackerel

35 Sea Trout

11 Snook

4 Redfish
