Three days of excellent fishing

Matlacha Sound, FL

December 2nd, 2022

The last several days I have had the pleasure of taking out a good friend and his brother-in-law. We managed to make some personal records, some awesome memories and new friends. Bait has been improving ever since our small red tide issue came and went. I’m finding an abundance of white bait to fish with, while also getting some shrimp to back us up. The redfish and snook are doing great, I’m seeing big numbers of fish around mangrove islands, bars and docks. We managed to put a ton of snook boat-side as well as quite a few reds, but the biggest number came with the trout. We caught more trout than I was able to count, a lot of smaller fish however, catching shrimp under a popping cork. The weather was a little uncooperative with stronger winds keeping us from taking time to fish offshore but the days are upon us to take advantage of calm days and fish nearshore reefs and wrecks.
